Harvest Calendar

(chart showing when fresh from the farm produce is available)

Call any of the livestock producers to learn how they handle orders for meat. Some will have cuts of wrapped meat on hand, fresh or frozen. Others will send your animal to a local processor who custom cuts and wraps it for you. Still others will sell you the animal and you must make the arrangements. Many but not all breeds of sheep are seasonal.

Use these guidelines in selecting meat animals:

One side of beef = 300 lbs. of cut, wrapped meat
One side of a hog = 75 lbs. of cut, wrapped pork
One lamb = 35 lbs. of cut, wrapped meat
